Hi,
as mentioned in the official standard for ID3 v2.3.0 regarding attached pictures (APIC), there is the possibility to put only a link to the image file by using the 'MIME type' "-->" and having a complete URL instead of picture data.

Does someone know, how to set the APIC frame properly with ID3-TagIT?
With this method i can edit or replace the cover pic without updating it in the mp3 files again, because a link in the APIC frames would aim on that jpg.
Help will be appreciated very much.
